The Signing

So this is it.  We have been trying to contact the title company all week to get us the documents to review before we show up for the signing.  It’s been like pulling teeth.  The secretary doesn’t know and the person who is doing the paperwork is too busy to bother.  On Tuesday, when they were suppose to have the paperwork done, It was not even started.  The secretary said it was sitting in her to-do-right-away pile.  Wednesday, the same thing.  Then Thursday morning, the stack finally came in E-Mail for review.  It took a couple of hours to read.  I had a few questions and called the title company.  The lady on the phone said our representative was way too busy to talk to us.  If we had any questions to contact our realtor and hung up.  Really?  We are paying them how much?

The realtor was out with clients till late afternoon.  When he finally called back he explained the questions we had and would make sure all the spelling errors where corrected and everything was ready for the signing tomorrow afternoon.

So Thursday night we loaded up the car.  It was filled to the brim with tools and supplies and anything that might be needed to do the rehab.  Including some extra supplies we have lying around the house that might be able to be used during the rehab.  This left just enough room in the carto sleep when I got tired of driving.  And since my husband could not get away from work, it would be just me and I don’t take up too much space.

Friday morning we finished packing.  That afternoon we grabbed coffee for everyone and went to the local mortgage office to do the signing.  It took about three hours to initial and sign.  Then sign and initial.  Then more initial and signing.  The copier was down, so we used our smart phone to take photos of every page.   We all seemed to be having fun, and the coffee helped.

So the contracts are signed and the house is ours, finally.  Now for the real work to begin.  The next day, it’s in the car and away we go.  Will take about 2 full days of driving, but will get there in no time.
