We got a copy of the
Appraisers report for the mortgage inspection this week. Because the bank had hired the appraiser, we
had to get the report from our broker.
Thank goodness for E-Mail and PDF Documents.
It was kind of fun to
read through. The appraiser took lots of
photos. Nothing looked different from
when we are there. And, amazingly
enough, the appraisal value is the exact same as the purchase price.
Throughout the report,
the appraiser mentioned the loud colors on the wall and multicolored, and in
some cases, pealing wallpaper in the kitchen and bathrooms. He also mentioned that while the house was in marginal
shape because of a lot of differed maintenance.
Both of these factors contributed to the lower than normal price point.
After reading the
report, we talked with the mortgage broker.
Everything is so far so good and we are good to go except for a survey
of the property lines. This has to be
done to satisfy the bank. We got that
scheduled for next week and no escort is going to be required. (Not sure why NOW there is no escort
required, but am not complaining.)
We are supposed to close
a week from next Tuesday, but no one has heard from the title company about the
paperwork. Hopefully they can get the
paperwork done in time.
Is it just me, or is the
word hopefully being used a lot. Am not
one to be relying on others to get things done for me so I guess the waiting
game is just getting old. But it should
all come out in the end and then we can start the renovation process. I wonder how many coats of paint it will take
to cover the red and silver bedroom. Guess
time will tell, hopefully.
