It’s been a slow
process. Nothing at all happened for a
whole week. Then, this week we got the
survey done. It’s a track home and
everything was as expected. No one is
encroaching and we now have a map of where the cable company’s easements are so
they can do what they need to do to get things done for the neighborhood. Will put it into a file and hopefully it will
never be needed.
It looks like the title
company has not even started on the paperwork yet. The contract states that if there is a delay
in the closing, we have to pay a fee. So
we contacted the title company and told them that we wanted to make sure the
paperwork was not rushed, but done correctly with correctly being the key word
here. If they wanted to put off closing
until next Friday, that would be fine with us, so as long as we are not fined,
charged, or otherwise penalized for the delay.
The lady tried to sound like she was doing us a favor by agreeing to
this, but I could hear the relief in her voice.
Had to laugh out loud after hanging up the phone.
I don’t know why this is
so difficult for them to complete. It’s
an as-is sale and the lien search has already been done so there is no liens on
the title. All they have to do is the
paperwork where nothing has been changed, altered, or shifted in any way since
the house was put up for sale. Am
thinking this is one of those hopefully situations again. Hopefully they can get this paperwork done so
we can move forward.
After talking with the
title company and getting everything arranged with them, it was time to get the
utilities set up to be turned on.
Looking over the list, it was already done. The electricity is still on and in our name. There have been no spikes in usage so we know
no body is tapping into it. And it was just
cheaper to leave it on than to pay to have it turned off and then on
again. The water was turned off while we
were not there and the water company was notified to turn it on again sometime
Friday. Since it was a sale, they were
very nice and didn’t charge us any extra fees to do so.
Guess it’s time to start
packing the car to get ready to go.
